Ride home for Thursday, 31 July and Critical Mass

Blogger finally seems to be willing to let me post again (although that said, I haven't been checking it too often as I've been rather busy of late). Pretty quiet month, all in all, with the only point of interest being Critical Mass. There was a reasonably big turn-out, but not as big as the past couple of months - I think the count was somewhere in the region of 200. There was a Cuban celebration going on in Victoria Park when we arrived which quite a few people joined in with while we were waiting for the ride to start, but most people just hung out on the grassy area, including this cool as a cucumber kid and her mum. Things got under way around 6:30, and I started taking pictures as usual, starting with a local bike mechanic who felt the urge to circle back and let loose his inner child, with another mechanic not far back feeling the urge to flick the V's at me!

It was a nice ride around the city up until the heavens opened and it absolutely poured it down for 5 minutes. There was much rushing to put on rain gear, although lots of people just decided to carry on regardless. I didn't take any more photos apart from one of Neskie on what had to be the most beaten up and rusted (not to mention undersized) bikes he was able to find at the Bike Hub - nothing like the frameless bike he had last month!
