No more riding this week

The doctor diagnosed me as having a bad case of strep throat, so I have to take penicillin and be confined to bed rest for the rest of the week. Just as well, as the weather looks pretty damp for the rest of the week. Hopefully I should be better by the weekend - just in time for the sun to return!

Dude, that sucks. Hope I dont sound too maternal by recomending ginger tea and yogurt. The tea may help with your symptoms, and the yogurt can help offset the negitive effects of penicillin.

In any event, I up you are feeling better, and back in the saddle, soon.

Thanks for the good wishes!

I slept for most of the past couple of days, and spent the time I wasn't asleep catching up on blogs and bikeforums.net. My throat is still swollen but not as sore, although my stomach muscles feel like I've pulled them or something - really odd. I'm hoping to be back in the saddle by the weekend, with any luck.

The info sheet that came with the penicillin mentioned that I should eat natural yoghurt, surprisingly enough; I already knew about it due to, ah, intestinal issues in the past, but it's good to see it getting mentioned. I didn't know about the ginger tea, though - I'll have to give that a try. I've been relying on water (around 10 pints a day), Fisherman's Friends, icecream and honey to sooth my throat (not necessarily all at the same time!) and I'm really looking forward to getting back to solid food...
