Ride for Wednesday, 13 September
Went up to the farmer's market to find... they'd shut up shop. There was a sign in the window thanking customers for their business and announcing that as of 6pm on the 12th of September, they were closed. That's a real shame, it was the cheapest place to get food from. I headed over to Sobey's and got some food there. I had some severe sticker shock at the checkout; 4 Portobello mushrooms came to $13! I was used to getting great big bags full from the farmer's market for $4-5 or so, so this was a major surprise. The total came to $55 and change; quite a jump for my usual $20-$30 spend at Avery's. I think I'm going to have to go down to the Farmer's Market at the weekend and take a look there...

That sucks about Averys. The Saturday market downtown is alright, its best to go as early as possible - it gets really crowded by 10-11am, which makes it annoying to navigate. Its worth it though for the produce - there are several booths to choose from and they're all pretty reasonable.
Mr. Pants is a big fan of one of the butchers there that sells (apparently) British meat pastries and scotch eggs. Every time his dad is coming to town he pre-orders a bunch of em' - heh heh heh!
