If you want a longer route, try only making three left turns instead of each right, as suggested by Cycle Dog.
On my way home I only make one right turn - I make very few turns at all. Taking a right instead of a left would dump me downtown, or into a mess of steep hills, fast cars and traffic lights. I think I may have to go through the rotary and up St Margaret's Bay Road or something.
